WWE deserve a little patience to see if they can make night two of the 2020 Draft a bit more special, but SmackDown's first leg didn't do a lot to inspire hope. There was something totally underwhelming about the whole thing. At least they didn't repeat last year's 'War Room' trick involving phoney execs from USA and FOX, right?

Typically, the company shot themselves in the foot before even holding the Draft. Then, still reeling from the pain, they took aim at the other limb before pausing and realising that they'd probably totally destroy the purpose of their upcoming shake-up if they pulled the trigger yet again.

Anyone looking for positives in amongst all this agonising monotony would've found it in the form of a surprisingly fun 'Falls Count Anywhere' opener. Those same folks might also enjoy that WWE added some new stips to Hell In A Cell and refused to give away some big time pay off before that pay-per-view.

– The show opened with Vince and Stephanie McMahon welcoming everyone to the new era of Smackdown on Fox.
– Becky Lynch came to the ring to speak, and was interrupted by King Corbin. They were both interrupted by The Rock. Rock and Lynch made fun of Corbin, calling him 'Burger King on crack' and a '35-year old virgin at Comic Con.' They teamed up to beat him up, and the Rock hit the Rock Bottom and People's Elbow. 1. Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair defeated Sasha Banks and Bayley. Flair tapped out Bayley with the Figure-Eight to win the match.
– Erin Andrews interviewed the New Day.
– Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair were spotted in the crowd.
2. Seth Rollins vs. Shinsuke Nakamura ended in a No Contest. Bray Wyatt interrupted Rollins' entrance with an episode of Firefly Funhouse, featuring Ramblin' Rabbit dressed as Rollins and getting killed inside a tiny Hell in a Cell by Mercy the Buzzard. The match ended quickly when The Fiend showed up and choked out Rollins with a mandible claw.
3. Career vs. Career Ladder Match: Kevin Owens defeated Shane McMahon. Owens powerbombed McMahon onto a ladder, and was able to pull down the briefcase to win the match. Per a pre-match stipulation, this means McMahon is 'fired' from WWE. Owens pulled McMahon up to tell him he's fired, and hit a Stunner. Watch that here.
4. Braun Strowman, The Miz, and Heavy Machinery defeated AJ Styles, Robert Roode, Dolph Ziggler, and Randy Orton. Strowman pinned Ziggler with a powerslam and almost got into a fight with boxer Tyson Fury. Watch that here.
– EDM DJ Marshmello won (and then lost) the 24/7 Championship from Carmella. Watch that here.

5. Lumberjack Match: Roman Reigns defeated Erick Rowan. Reigns won with a spear after Daniel Bryan helped him fight off Rowan and Luke Harper. After the match, Bryan and Reigns shook hands.

6. WWE Championship Match: Brock Lesnar defeated Kofi Kingston (c) with an F-5 in like two seconds to win the WWE Championship. After the match, Rey Mysterio showed up with Cain Velasquez in tow. Velasquez attacked Lesnar, and the two had a tense staredown over the WWE Championship. Watch that here.
